First meeting of ACC’s affiliated Congolese cooperatives

On February 14th 2023, a day ahead of the 19th African Fine Coffees Conference in Kigali, 12 cooperatives met to get to know each other, to review market conditions, and to plan.

Using excellent conferencing facilities at the Lebanon Hotel, eight cooperatives were represented in person while four other participated via Zoom.

It was an excellent first opportunity to look together at the common challenges and opportunities facing Eastern Congo’s cooperatives, and to discuss how these can be more effectively addressed by joining forces, and by having eyes, ears, hands and feet in the international market, through ACC.

With one container of coffee consumed globally every minute every day, it is not the size of the market that holds us back, but rather the ability to link into the market, especially the more rewarding market sectors.

We discussed how to go about this, through presence at international coffee fairs, and also through carefully building reputation and track record.
