The Majirane Agricultural Cooperative is a young organisation, created in 2020, with 500 farmers, made up of 221 women and 379 men. It was founded by a woman, Namwana Muvunga Feza, following an initiative to bring women together and to highlight the work women do in their community.
The first washing station was built in 2021 and contains 12 drying tables while the micro-station contains 5 tables and room for 5 more.
Their first production was sold locally in 2022. The cooperative is actively working on the multiplication of coffee seeds and trees and on distribution of new trees to members. They aim both to increase coffee production and to facilitate reforestation in the fight against global warming.
The mission of the Majirane agricultural cooperative is to expand and improve coffee farming in this community. By raising awareness of the positive potential in coffee production, it hopes to encourage its members to return to this sector that has been neglected for decades.
Majirane places particular emphasis on the significance of the work of women. The cooperative helps women understand and appreciate their role, their rights and their significance in agricultural work, particularly in the coffee sector. It seeks to develop a spirit of self-help and entrepreneurship among women in the community.

The cooperative is working to improve the lives of women in the community and of all its members, by providing:
Training in various trades for members, especially women, such as soap making and tailoring, and also in improving literacy.
Encouraging financial autonomy and entrepreneurship among women.
Actively involving women in the marketing of products.
